Port Angeles Fine Arts Center: Undersea Garden

  • Port Angeles Fine Arts Center (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

The Arts Center's intimate side gallery will be transformed into an installation that transports visitors into the world of the Salish Sea itself. The main gallery will feature more traditional art objects, wall hangings, sculptures and quilts—all inspired by the sea—its vastness and beauty, as well as issues such as diversity loss and ocean acidification.

Some pieces in this exhibit will be the work of individual members of the Tangled Fibers group while others will be collaborative efforts. Tangled Fibers dedicates the exhibit to the diversity of the Salish Sea—a celebration of the patterns, colors and textures of sea life.

Rhythms of Water and Land, Love and Loss
Aug

to Nov 4

Rhythms of Water and Land, Love and Loss

This show brings together the creative lives of two sisters, Sue Britt (papertapestry.net) and Cathie Britt Wier (cathiewier.com). Though they live a thousand miles apart, they have been sharing the experience of making art as a way of thinking about the world for almost fifteen years. They both hike, live near mountains and ocean, and appreciate the beauty to be found in the rhythms of the physical world. They also share the love and loss that is part of the rhythms of family.

An artists’ reception will be held on October 6 at 6:30pm, following Jazz at 5pm.
