Port Angeles Fine Arts Center
A National Juried Exhibition
Opening August 17, 5-7pm
Open: Thursday-Sunday 11-5
August 17 – September 29, 2019
This show brings together the creative lives of two sisters, Sue Britt (papertapestry.net) and Cathie Britt Wier (cathiewier.com). Though they live a thousand miles apart, they have been sharing the experience of making art as a way of thinking about the world for almost fifteen years. They both hike, live near mountains and ocean, and appreciate the beauty to be found in the rhythms of the physical world. They also share the love and loss that is part of the rhythms of family.
An artists’ reception will be held on October 6 at 6:30pm, following Jazz at 5pm.
Come see work from the members of the North Peninsula Chapter of the Surface Design Association along with teachers at the PT School of the Arts.
Open Tues-Sunday 12-5.
A collection of bags, scarves, gifts and jewelry from the hands of local artists. Treasures that are hand-dyed, hand-woven, hand-spun, beaded, pieced, felted and more. Find special gifts for yourself or others at our once-a-year sale.
This is a collaborative installation created by Tangled Fibers, an art group comprised of Barbara, Jean-marie Tarascio, Pat Herkal, and Cathie Wier. This group work is currently being exhibited in Port Townsend at the downtown gallery space of the Port Townsend School of the Arts. Individual pieces within the installation range from intricately sewn and beaded forest creatures (Pat) to whimsical hanging paper and wire flowers (Jean-marie) to weavings of 2-D and 3-D trees (Cathie) to quilted trunks and wall hangings (Barbara).
